A classic. Just listening to it on my balcony. A warm summers night, a glass of cold white wine. Music. Thanks for your recommendations. Lots to discover. Alex Kassian’s String of Eden is a wonderful track. Keep doing this, please.
I don't have a precise Herbie Hancock sign (1990 baby) but the closest would be Perfect Machine. Tell me what it means!! Should this be the first HH album I get into?
This is a WILD record in Herbie's catalog; the experimentation with all things Digital results in some really incredible pieces (like Chemical Residue from this record) and some stuff that feels a bit more 'of its time'. But Herbie's innovation in the world of digital music is incalculable. Let me find a few Youtube clips that put this one full display!
When it comes to Where To Start: With Herbie, I honestly think you could start right at his first record, and as you listen you'll hear macro changes, like in sound, technology, culture, and in the micro changes, like Herbie's growth as a composer/arranger, as a bandleader and as a human being! It's a beautiful journey.
Take this: Maidan Voyage! ;)
WOW, an Incredible Album, an Incredible Year!

His version of Dolphin Dance has got to be one of my favourites!
Thanks for the kind words Frank, appreciate you!

You're a beautiful man, Jamison! Excited to dig in. Keep this up!
I love Herbie's music so much, and he's such a profound and brilliant human being. A true Living Legend.
Re: Herbie Youtube clips, I think I'm going to do a BONUS post with just videos of Herbie talking about Music!
Hey-oh! Nothing Better than a Bonus Post. I'll look forward to it!
